Lots of opera for free, starting with La Traviata tonight

It might seem like a good day to bury good news, but in a rather exciting development, a consortium of leading European companies, including: ROH, La Monnaie, Wiener Staatsoper, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Opéra national de Lyon and Teatro Real Madrid have set up a new opera streaming site under the aegis of Opera Europa.
The fun starts tonight with La Traviata from Madrid. This is all free- and will be for six months after the stream. Excitingly, it includes subtitles in six languages, a feature missing from many subscription services (Berlin Phil digital concert hall and much content on Medici).

Initial programme: 8/5 La Traviata
16/5 Król Roger
30/5 Maskats - Valentina
7/6 Götterdämmerung

From the UK, other contributors include Opera North, ENO, Glyndebourne and Scottish Opera. The ambitious range on offer at this early stage bodes well. The Opera Platform is here: I've saved it to my favourites already.
