John Whittingdale has been appointed culture secretary. It remains unclear what it might mean for classical music. Whittingdale is clearly obsessed about the television licence fee (BBC). It doesn't appear he is as outrightly hostile (so an apparent improvement from the previous incumbent). No entries made in register of interests of being given any concert tickets; this doesn't preclude him going and paying of course. Masterly inactivity would fine, of course.
This is obviously very very bad news for the BBC.
